I’m a folksinger & songwriter who has a bluegrass soul and a BFA in Studio Art. I’m a camera nerd and a lover of words. I am a journaling enthusiast & activist.
I am happily married. I have an amazing family. I have amazing friends.
I run a lot. I enjoy the outdoors, especially hiking and trail running. I do ballet every day. I strive to maintain a healthy and nutritious lifestyle, but I still enjoy a good stout or ice cream every now and then. :-)
I believe very strongly in the importance of individuality and mental health. I support most feminist issues.
After years experiencing the age-old ‘change of plans’, I no longer waste my time making solid plans or specific goals. I more-or-less go with the flow and it seems to be working out for me.
Now onto more technical things…
My music: It’s mostly acoustic guitar and my voice, although I experiment with pretty much any instrument I can get my hands on (or anything that will make noise, be it technically an instrument or not). I write often (almost daily). I’m a folksinger, heavily influenced by old time country music, some blues, punk, and bluegrass. I’ve been in plenty of bands and duets since I was a kid, but I’ve always managed to maintain my individuality as a musician — and I’ve been recording my own music since I was 15. I love sounds that are strange and unique, and lyrics that stimulate the senses and trigger emotions. I also love humor and quirkiness. So, each of these values shows up in the music I make. My songs tend to be whimsical, clever, quirky, interesting, sometimes philosophical, and sometimes comical.
My photographic guns: Pentax Kx - Green (because I am certainly not afraid to have a little fun — that’s a huge aspect of my artistic style… and I can’t lie, I love to be different!), Panasonic Lumix LX3 (this little baby is my temporary affordable replacement for a Leica M9 when it comes to street photography… and the Leica lens on it is phenomenal), Canon AE-1
My favorite art materials: paper, ink, art markers, pens, clay, watercolors
My content (in music, art, and photography) is loosely based on: curiosity, whimsy, spine-erinas, crooked spines, hairy legs, horns, tree branches and roots, patches of compulsiveness, alien owls, sexy-leg owls, old cameras, odd instruments, scientific tools, marionettes, candy apples, birds on telephone wires, telephones, bicycles, being different, individuality, narcissism, motivations, intent, past experiences, childhood memories, dream science (scenes and objects from my dreams—both day and night), biology, emotion, situation, spontaneity, being a woman, household things, imagination, stories
